Board of Directors

Timo Vättö holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors for gategroup since 2021. He brings over three decades of experience across sectors, with profound experience in the financial services industry, strategy, financing, and M&A.

In addition to chairing the Board of gategroup, Mr. Vättö currently serves on the Board of Directors of Evalueserve Holdings AG (since 2013) and IHAG Holding AG (since 2014). He has previously served on a number of other boards, including Vice Chairman of Aktia Bank plc (2021-2024), Director at Rettig plc (2017-2024), and Director/Chairman at Altisource Portfolio Solutions SA (2009-2019). In 2008, Mr. Vättö founded Cundo Management AG, an independent provider of corporate advisory services to corporations and private families.

Prior to founding Cundo Management AG and transitioning into governance roles, Mr. Vättö spent nearly 20 years at Citigroup, from 1998 to 2008, in various roles in Corporate and Investment Banking. From 2004 until 2009 he was Director at Citibank Switzerland.

He is a Finnish and Swiss citizen and holds a Master of Science, Economics and Business Administration from the University of Tampere.

Uwe Krueger combines over two decades of leadership experience across the industrial, business services, energy, and resources sectors. He serves as Vice Chairman European Partnerships at Temasek. Before joining Temasek in 2018 he held positions as CEO of Oerlikon Group until 2009, President of Cleantech Switzerland (2010 – 2011) and CEO of WAS Atkins plc. (2011 – 2017). He also served as Senior Advisor for TPG Capital.

Dr. Krueger holds a degree in Physics and Business Administration and a PhD in Complex System Theory and Brain Research from University of Frankfurt, where he serves as honorary professor of Physics. He also worked on various research assignments at Columbia University, New York and Ecole Normale Superieur, Paris. He also holds an Honorary Doctorate from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.

He is Vice Chairman of Surbana Jurong (Singapore), Member of the Board of Sembcorp Industries (Singapore), Member of the Board of Chain IQ (Zug), Member of the Board of Reefknot Investments (Singapore).

A Swiss national, Dr. Krueger was elected to the Board of Directors of gategroup on September 25, 2019.

Mr. Bajan combines over 30 years of experience as business lawyer and partner in a Zurich law firm and as Executive Manager and Member of the Board in various Swiss and international corporations. He was General Counsel, Chief People Officer and Member of the Executive Board at OC Oerlikon Management AG, Corporate Secretary of Landis+Gyr as well as a member and/or president of a number of Swiss and international corporations.

He is presently Chairman of the Board of Directors of two and a Member of Board of three Swiss and European companies and he is Deputy Commodore of the Cruising Club of Switzerland.

Mr Bajan studied law at Zurich University, has been admitted to the Bar and obtained a LL.M. in international law from the University of London.

A Swiss national, he was first elected to Board of Directors of gategroup on April 3, 2019.

Bernard Han served as president and chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors of Frontier Communications Corporation, a telecommunications provider, from 2019 to 2021. He previously served as executive vice president of strategic planning at Dish Network Corp., a broadcast satellite service provider, from 2015 to 2018. Prior to that, Mr. Han served as the chief operating officer of Dish Network Corp. from 2009 to 2015 and as the chief financial officer of EchoStar Corporation, a global satellite services provider, from 2006 to 2009. He has served on the board of directors of Frontier Airlines, Inc., a low cost carrier, since 2014 and previously served on the board of directors of ON Semiconductor Corporation, a semiconductor manufacturer, from 2012 to 2015. From 2002 to 2005, Mr. Han served as the chief financial officer and executive vice president of Northwest Airlines Corp., an airline later absorbed into Delta Air Lines, Inc. From 1996 to 2002, Mr. Han held several executive positions at America West Airlines, Inc., an airline later absorbed into American Airlines, including executive vice president and chief financial officer and senior vice president of marketing and planning. From 1988 to 1995, Mr. Han held various finance and marketing positions at Northwest Airlines Corp. and American Airlines.

A US national, he was elected to the Board of Directors of gategroup on June 23, 2021.

Lina Hares is a General Manager and Director at Google DeepMind - a leader at the forefront of the AI landscape with a mission to build AI responsibly to benefit humanity. An engineer by training with deep roots in robotics, Ms. Hares specializes in architecting and scaling AI-first products with mass global reach. She joined Google DeepMind in 2023 to lead a global organisation of Product Directors and Engineering leaders.

She joined Google in 2017 where she held several leadership roles including Director of Product Management for Google Payments and led product innovations for the Consumer Staples sector with partners such as Nestle and P&G.

Prior to 2017, she built a distinguished international career in the energy sector, overseeing leadership mandates across Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America. She holds an MSc. in Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, and BSc in Robotics and Computer Engineering. A French national, she was elected to the Board of Directors of gategroup in October 2025.

Dinesh Khanna is an experienced global strategist and Joint Head, Portfolio Development Group at Temasek. He was also appointed alternate director at Sembcorp Industries Ltd. (Sembcorp) in 2026. Prior to joining Temasek International he spent over two decades at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG). He held multiple senior leadership roles, including as global chair of the People Team, member of BCG's executive and operating committees and as head of Singapore.

A Singaporean national, he was elected to  the Board of Directors for gategroup in March, 2025. Mr. Khanna holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and a Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

Vivian Lam is the Chief Executive Officer at RRJ Management (Hong Kong) Ltd and one of the founding managing directors of RRJ Capital.

Elected to the Board of Directors of gatgroup in June, 2021, she is a seasoned private equity investor and financial expert with 20 years’ direct investment experience, actively promoting Green Finance and ESG. Prior to joining RRJ, Ms. Lam spent more than eleven years working at General Electric (GE) and GE Capital Asia Pacific as Analyst and Executive Director.

A Hongkong-Chinese national, Ms. Lam is a Chartered Accountant and Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds an MBA from Chicago Booth School of Business and a BBA from the University of Hong Kong with First Class Honors.

She serves as member of the Council and Technical Committee for the Green Finance Certification Scheme under Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA).

Richard Ong is a leading personality and strategic expert in the private equity sector. He is Founder, Chairman, and CEO of the RRJ Group, an Asian investment firm focused on structured private equity investments in China and South-East Asia. Prior to this he was a co-founder and chief executive officer of HOPU.

Mr. Ong had a 15-year career as Managing Director and Partner at Goldman Sachs. He served as co-head of the Asian Investment Banking Division, Member of the Asian Management Committee and Co-president of Goldman Sachs Singapore. Before joining Goldman Sachs, he held positions in New York City for Chase Manhattan Bank and Prudential-Bache Capital Funding.

Elected to the Board of Directors for gategroup in April 2019, Mr. Ong is a Malaysian national and holds a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Prior to his appointment, Christoph Schmitz had served as gategroup’s Chief Financial Officer since January 2015. Before joining gategroup, he was CFO at Wild Flavors, an international supplier of ingredients to the food and beverage industry, where he successfully implemented a private equity-supported buy, build, and exit strategy. Prior to this Mr. Schmitz held various C-level roles at several multinational companies in North America, Australia, Germany, and India. Mr. Schmitz has over 30 years of experience in executive management roles, holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and an M.Sc. in Business Management.

Thomas Weyer is a recognized expert in the infrastructure and aviation industry. He held senior management positions at major airports for more than 15 years. He was COO at Berlin Brandenburg Airports GmbH, COO and CFO at Munich Airport GmbH. Prior to his career in the aviation sector, he served 14 years at HOCHTIEF AirPort and Infrastructure, (HOCHTIEF AG), at Philipp Holzmann AG and Mobay Corporation.

Elected to the Board of Directors for gategroup in June, 2021, he holds an MBA from Duquesne University and a Master’s in Civil and Struct. Engineering (Dipl.-Ing.) from TU Aachen.

A German national, he has served as Chairman or Member of the Supervisory Boards of various companies worldwide.
